Il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;une rivi\u00e8re glaciaire, limoneuse et opaque, qui prend sa source dans la cha\u00eene de montagnes <a href=\"https:\/\/central-asia.guide\/fr\/tadjikistan\/destinations-au-tadjikistan\/pamir\/\">du Pamir<\/a> et se forme au confluent du Wakhan et du Pamir, pr\u00e8s de la fronti\u00e8re chinoise, dans le village de Q <span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\">ila-e Panja. De l\u00e0, il coule vers l&rsquo;ouest, formant la fronti\u00e8re naturelle entre l&rsquo;Afghanistan et le Tadjikistan. Le fleuve traverse des zones tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rentes et s&rsquo;\u00e9tend parfois sur des kilom\u00e8tres de large, tandis que les points les plus \u00e9troits ne s\u00e9parent les deux pays que de 10 \u00e0 20 m\u00e8tres. Il s&rsquo;oriente ensuite vers le sud-ouest, avant de rejoindre la rivi\u00e8re Vakhsh et de former le plus grand fleuve d&rsquo;Asie centrale, l&rsquo;Amu Darya.   <\/p><p>La rivi\u00e8re Panj est longue de 921 km et son bassin s&rsquo;\u00e9tend sur 114 000 km\u00b2. De nombreux ponts traversent la rivi\u00e8re entre le Tadjikistan et l&rsquo;Afghanistan, comme \u00e0 Khorog, <a href=\"https:\/\/central-asia.guide\/fr\/tadjikistan\/destinations-au-tadjikistan\/pamir\/iskashim\/\">Ishkashem<\/a> et <a href=\"https:\/\/central-asia.guide\/tajikistan\/destinations-tj\/pamir\/langar\/\">Langar<\/a> dans le GBAO, Nizhni Pyanj, Tem et le nouveau \u00ab\u00a0pont de l&rsquo;amiti\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb \u00e0 Darwaz dans la partie la plus occidentale du Tadjikistan. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, certains tron\u00e7ons de la rivi\u00e8re comportent encore des mines datant de l&rsquo;\u00e9poque sovi\u00e9tique, qui sont pour la plupart marqu\u00e9es. Il est toujours pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable de ne se d\u00e9placer pr\u00e8s de la rivi\u00e8re qu&rsquo;accompagn\u00e9 d&rsquo;un guide local, car des soldats patrouillent le long de la rivi\u00e8re et
