This tour to Kyrgyzstan will introduce you with the natural beauty and nomadic traditions of Kyrgyzstan. Distinct Kyrgyz culture is rooted in proud nomadic traditions. Kyrgyzstan was also an essential part of the Great Silk Route and three branches of the route — Pamir-Alay, South, and North — pass through Kyrgyzstan.

This trip will allow you to plunge deeply into the life of nomadic Kyrgyz and to feel the harmonious beauty of Kyrgyz nature. You will experience high mountains, long and narrow valleys, cold rivers, noble lakes and herds of horses in wild pastures between the high peaks and yurts dotting the scenery.

Tour Itinerary

Arrival to Bishkek, meeting a local guide at the airport. You will be picked up from the Manas international airport and brought to the hotel in Bishkek, where you can have rest after the flight. In the following afternoon we will have a visit to the Ala-Archa National Park 40 km South from Bishkek.

After breakfast leaving to the Toktogul, 271 km from Bishkek. We drive through the valley of Suusamyr. On the road to the gorge you’ll get excellent views of various Tien Shan mountains. Stop at Too Ashu Pass 3500 m altitude. On the top is the biggest tunnel with a breathtaking panoramic view of the sides. Following the road to the Ala-Bel pass at 3150 m.

Picnic in the canyon Chichkan, which is very famous of trouts, wild strawberries, natural honey and crystal clear mountainous river. In the afternoon we walk to the wild beach of Toktogul lake. Swimming and free time. On arrival in the evening.

After breakfast we drive along a beautiful and longest river in Kyrgyzstan, Naryn that ultimately flows to Aral Sea after joining with the Syr Darya. On the road we stop at a canyon of Naryn. It is a beautiful place where we can take pictures and have a picnic.

After passing the Naryn canyon, we reach the town of Tash-Komur which is a town that used to live out of coal mining. We will continue travelling to Jalal Abad, which is Kyrgyzstan’s third largest city. It is located in a broad plain of the Kugart Valley one of the valleys on the edge of the Sary-Chelek biosphere reserve, which has been described as a cultural landscape where man is important but nature dominates. Sary Chelek also boasts with 157 species of birds making it the ornithologist paradise. Possibility for horseback riding and free time at the biosphere zone.

Nestled in between the steep vertical rocky slopes of the surrounding mountains, at approximately 1873 m altitude. A day for walking/hiking, taking pictures and studying the nature. Picnic in Sary Chelek.

After breakfast we drive to the wolrd’s biggest wild walnut forest in Arslanbob. There is a legend that Alexander the Great took walnuts from Arslanbob to Greece and Europe and that they were the nuts that have grown all the walnut trees of Europe. We will see the forest, wild walnuts and how local people harvest them. We will also discover local culture and meet people, who live from the products of the forest. Picnic at the forest. Walking to the waterfalls.

After breakfast we start to drive 150 km from Arslanbob to Osh city. On the Silk Road we visit a minaret in the town of Uzgen dated from the 11th century. Uzgen town is famous for its ancient market place, historic monument center and of Uzgen red rice. It is the best rice for preparation of plov, a popular dish throughout the Central Asia.

Arrival to the southern capital of Kyrgyzstan – Osh, a 2,500-year old ancient city on the Silk Road on the way from Fergana valley to Kashgar. Situated on both green hillsides of the Ak-Bura River, Osh is Kyrgyzstan’s second largest city. Lunch at a local popular Chaikhana (a tea house with national cuisines). After lunch visiting the sacred Suleiman-Too mountain (Prophet Solomon`’s mountain).

Cotton, rice, tobacco, vegetables, fruits, and walnuts are all grown in Osh, so after breakfast visit to the family-run farm to get introduced to native plants, fruits and vegetables, local/region flora and fauna, a local guide will familiarize us with birds of the region. There will also be possibility for horseback riding/walking to a waterfall, we will also visit local bazaar. Walking around and exploring this old city on the Great Silk Road.

After breakfast we drive to Kara-Suu a local walnut forest and the most famous Southern Kyrgyzstan national park. Surrounding area comprises river valleys and streams that flow along a winding course through almost all the territory of the reserve. Steep banks are strewn with boulders, forming rapid cascades. Glaciers, permanent ice fields, and high mountain lakes lie on the north-facing slopes. Explore the high mountain lake ecosystems. Participate in a guided tour with an introduction to the local fauna and flora and the general biodiversity in this remarkable national park.

Early in the morning, we will bring you to the Manas airport early in the morning when most of the flights depart from Manas airport.

This tour requires normal physical condition. There will be some walking in easy and moderate terrains.

What to bring with you: comfortable walking/hiking shoes, warm clothes, rain clothes, sunscreen, cap for the sun and sun glasses, personal medications.
