Uzbekistan Visa
Uzbekistan Visa Information
Uzbekistan was once a challenging destination for travelers due to its complicated visa requirements, costly letters of invitation, and burdensome registration processes. Thankfully, those obstacles are now a thing of the past. The country has transformed its approach, introducing a simplified and tourist-friendly visa system. Entry requirements were relaxed in 2018 and further simplified in 2019, with more countries receiving visa-free privileges, the introduction of e-visas, and the removal of the need for additional letters of invitation for many nationalities.
Today, Uzbekistan stands out as one of the most traveler-friendly destinations in Central Asia. Over 60 nationalities now enjoy visa-free travel to Uzbekistan. Eligible travelers can enter by air or land and stay in the country for up to 30 days without a visa, simplifying travel to this fascinating Central Asian destination. This policy reflects Uzbekistan’s efforts to boost tourism by making it more accessible to a wide range of visitors. Uzbekistan granted visa-free access for up to 30 days, as of February 1 of 2019, for travelers from 45 countries. Visa-on-arrival services are available at select airports for travelers from countries without an Uzbek embassy.

In addition to the regular visa options, travelers from certain countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, China, Hong Kong, and Macao, can enjoy a 10-day visa-free stay in Uzbekistan. To qualify, travelers must have a valid onward flight ticket, typically with Uzbekistan Airways, and their flight must be booked directly with the airline. However, we recommend double-checking the eligibility requirements with the airlines or your local embassy, as regulations may change.

Countries Eligible for E-Visa System to get to Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan has simplified its visa process by introducing the e-visa system, which allows travelers from many countries to apply for a visa online. There are three types of e-visas available: single-entry (US$20), double-entry (US$35), and multiple-entry (US$50). To apply, travelers need to complete the online application, pay the visa fee, and await confirmation via email. Once approved, travelers will receive a link to download their e-visa in PDF format. A hard copy of the e-visa must be printed and carried throughout the trip. Electronic copies on mobile devices are not sufficient.
In the rare case that the e-visa is denied, applicants will be notified by email and may need to apply for a visa through an embassy or consulate
Additionally, travelers from certain countries, including China, Hong Kong, and Macao, are eligible for 10-day visa-free stays, provided they have a valid onward flight ticket, typically with Uzbekistan Airways. We still advise you to double check this information with your airlines or local embassy. Additionally for the latest updates and a list of eligible countries, it is recommended to consult Uzbekistan’s official consular services or visa-related resources.

Embassy visas
For all other passport holders not included in the visa-free or e-visa categories, it is necessary to apply for an Uzbekistan visa through an Uzbek embassy. This process involves submitting an application along with any required supporting documents, such as a letter of invitation, at the nearest Uzbek consulate or embassy. This visa will be issued with specific entry and exit dates, so it is important to plan your visit within the validity period specified on the visa. For more information or assistance with the application process, we recommend contacting the Uzbek embassy or consulate.
Registration in Uzbekistan
Please note that if you stay in Uzbekistan for more than 3 days, you are required to register your place of accommodation. Failure to register can result in fines for each day you delay. Hotels typically handle this registration automatically for their guests. However, if you’re staying in alternative accommodations, such as an AirBnB or a privately rented apartment, it is important to confirm with the host that they will handle the registration for you. Not doing so could result in fines when departing from Uzbekistan.
