Uzbekistan Visa

Uzbekistan Visa Information

Uzbekistan used to be a difficult country for travelers because of complicated visa rules, expensive letters of invitation, and strict registration requirements. Fortunately, that has changed. The country now has a simplified, tourist-friendly visa system. Since 2018 and 2019, entry rules have been relaxed, more countries received visa-free access, e-visas were introduced, and many travelers no longer need letters of invitation.

Today, Uzbekistan is one of the most traveler-friendly destinations in Central Asia. Over 60 nationalities can now enter Uzbekistan without a visa and stay for up to 30 days, either by air or land. This change makes it much easier for tourists to visit. Additionally, travelers from countries without an Uzbek embassy can use visa-on-arrival services at select airports. These measures reflect Uzbekistan’s goal to boost tourism and make the country more accessible to visitors from around the world.

Latest Uzbekistan visa update: U.S. citizens can enter Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism, business, or short visits from 1st of January 2026.

In addition to the regular visa options, travelers from certain countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, China, Hong Kong, and Macao, can enjoy a 10-day visa-free stay in Uzbekistan. To qualify, travelers must have a valid onward flight ticket, typically with Uzbekistan Airways, and their flight must be booked directly with the airline. However, we recommend double-checking the eligibility requirements with the airlines or your local embassy, as regulations may change.

For the most up-to-date information regarding eligible countries and entry requirements, it is advisable to consult Uzbekistan’s official consular services or relevant visa-related resources.

Countries Eligible for E-Visa System to get to Uzbekistan

Citizens of many countries can now apply for Uzbekistan e-visa system through the official e-visa portal. You can choose single, double, or multiple-entry visas. After submitting your application, you’ll receive an email confirmation and instructions to pay the visa fee: US$20 for single-entry, US$35 for double-entry, and US$50 for multiple-entry.

Once your e-visa is approved, you will receive an email with a link to download it in PDF format. You must print a hard copy to present when checking in for your flight and when entering or leaving Uzbekistan. You are also required to carry the printed copy throughout your trip; electronic versions on mobile devices are not sufficient.

If your e-visa application is not approved, you will be notified by email. In that case, you can consider applying for a visa at an Uzbekistan embassy or consulate instead.

Embassy visas

For all other passport holders not included in the visa-free or e-visa categories, it is necessary to apply for an Uzbekistan visa through an Uzbek embassy. This process involves submitting an application along with any required supporting documents, such as a letter of invitation, at the nearest Uzbek consulate or embassy. This visa will be issued with specific entry and exit dates, so it is important to plan your visit within the validity period specified on the visa. For more information or assistance with the application process, we recommend contacting the Uzbek embassy or consulate.

Registration in Uzbekistan

Please note that if you stay in Uzbekistan for more than 3 days, you are required to register your place of accommodation. Failure to register can result in fines for each day you delay. Hotels typically handle this registration automatically for their guests. However, if you’re staying in alternative accommodations, such as an AirBnB or a privately rented apartment, it is important to confirm with the host that they will handle the registration for you. Not doing so could result in fines when departing from Uzbekistan.
