Kyrgyzstan Visa
Kyrgyzstan visa
Kyrgyzstan stands out among Central Asian countries for its progressive and traveler-friendly visa policies, making it an excellent destination for tourists exploring the region. The country’s visa regime is designed with accessibility in mind, allowing many travelers to enter visa-free, while others can conveniently apply for an e-visa online or obtain one through their local Kyrgyz embassy. However, in recent years, there have been changes, such as the cancellation of the visa-run system, which previously allowed travelers to exit and re-enter the country to reset their visa-free stay.
Countries with Indefinite Visa-Free Access to Kyrgyzstan
Citizens of following countries can stay in Kyrgyzstan indefinitely without needing to apply for a visa or residency permit. The only a valid passport or, in some cases, a national ID (for countries within certain agreements, like the Eurasian Economic Union) is required for entry.
Citizens of the following countries are allowed to stay in Kyrgyzstan for an indefinite period without requiring a visa, due to bilateral agreements or special relationships Kyrgyzstan has with these nations. Most of these countries are members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) or have strong historical, political, or cultural ties to Kyrgyzstan. Cuba, Vietnam, and North Korea benefit from special bilateral agreements.

Kyrgyzstan e-Visa
Since 1 September 2017, Kyrgyzstan has implemented an e-Visa system that allows travelers from all over the world to apply for a tourist, business, or group tourist visa online for stays of 30 or 60 days. This system simplifies the visa process for visitors and is available to citizens of all countries and territories. The e-Visa is valid for entry into Kyrgyzstan through specific airports or land crossings, making it convenient for international travelers.
To apply, travelers can visit the official e-Visa portal evisa.e-gov.kg where the process is quick and straightforward. Once approved, the e-Visa holders must enter Kyrgyzstan via Manas International Airport (near Bishkek) or Osh International Airport, or through specific land borders with neighboring countries. These land crossings include China (Irkeshtam and Torugart), Kazakhstan (Ak-jol, Ak-Tilek, Chaldybar, Chon-Kapka), Tajikistan (Bor-Dobo, Kulundu, Kyzyl-Bel), and Uzbekistan (Dostuk-Dostlik, north of Osh).
The e-Visa is designed for tourism, business, or group travel only and is not valid for work, study, or residency purposes. It is a convenient option for those seeking short-term stays in Kyrgyzstan, with the visa being issued online and typically approved quickly. For further details on how to apply and entry requirements, travelers should visit the official e-Visa website.
Letter of invitation
To obtain a Kyrgyzstan tourist visa, most passport holders are required to provide a letter of invitation from a registered tourist company. If you book a tour with us, we will provide the necessary invitation letter to assist with your visa application.
Visa runs
Visa runs are no longer possible. If you have used up your 60 days, you have to stay out of the country for 60 days before you can enter for another 60 days. It’s 60 days within 120 days. If you exit the country before your 60 days are up, you can return anytime to consume the remainder of your visa free stay.
The authorities of Kyrgyzstan have decided to abolish the simplified entry system for foreigners known as “visa runs” and replace it with a new visa-free regime based on the “60/120” principle, as reported by the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Previously, foreign nationals who reached the maximum visa-free stay in Kyrgyzstan could leave the country and immediately re-enter, effectively “resetting” their visa-free stay. Under the new system, after a 60-day visa-free stay, a foreign national can only re-enter the country after 60 days have passed.
For citizens of countries that can visit Kyrgyzstan visa-free for up to 90 days, the new rule follows the “90/180” principle. This means that after staying in Kyrgyzstan for 90 days, they must wait for 180 days before being allowed to re-enter the country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan clarified these changes to ensure the new visa-free system is understood.
Registration Rule
There have been times when a registration in a police office has been required from foreigners staying more than a certain time in Kyrgyzstan but to our knowledge these rules do not apply at the moment.
Special pass for border areas
In Kyrgyzstan, certain regions require additional documentation to visit or pass through, particularly those near the border with China in the Issyk-Kul and Naryn areas. This includes locations such as Karkyra, Inylchek, the areas around Pobeda Peak and Khan Tengri, Kel-Suu, At-Bashi, Ak-Sai, Peak Lenin, and the Torugart Pass.
We offer assistance in obtaining special permits for these border zones, including a single pass that covers all restricted areas. If you need help with obtaining these permits, please feel free to contact us.
Please be aware that attempting to travel to these regions without the proper authorization can be risky and may lead to issues with the Kyrgyz government. At a minimum, you may be denied entry into these restricted areas.
