New Fast Train Between Tashkent and Khiva Starting May 1
A new high-speed train (Afrosiyab) connection between Tashkent and Khiva will begin operating on May 1, significantly improving travel between the eastern and western parts of Uzbekistan. The fast train will cut the travel time by nearly half to about 7h, while earlier it was about 14h making journeys between the capital and the historic Silk Road city faster and more comfortable and adding a viable option for flying or night trains.
The new service will provide modern carriages, improved onboard amenities, and a smoother ride across the country. This development will make it easier for travelers to include Khiva in their itineraries, whether continuing onward to Bukhara and Samarkand or exploring the ancient walled city of Itchan Kala and the other Khoresm Kalas.
