Cable car being constructed in Ala Archa near Bishkek
Construction of a new about 1 km cableway has begun in Ala-Archa Nature Park near Bishkek, in Kyrgyzstan. The cableway project is part of a larger strategy to enhance Kyrgyzstan’s appeal to tourists and provide them with safe and comfortable facilities but at the same time, from the perspective of a foreign tourist, a part of the originality of the park will be lost.
The construction of the cableway is planned to be carried out in two stages. The first phase involves the building of a 1-kilometer route, granting visitors access to some of the most scenic locations in Ala-Archa Park and reducing the time and effort to hike to the Ak Sai waterfall and Ak Sai Glacier. Plans for the second stage of the project will be announced at a later date but in some sources the plans include a very long, almost 30 kilometer cable car all the way from Bishkek to Ala Archa and up till 4000 meters.
The upper part of the first stage of Ala Archa cable car is located near a stone called the broken heart on the way to the Ala Archa (Ak Sai) waterfall. A hotel is also being built near the ending point of the cable car route.
